Trying to get a medical marijuana card during the early afternoons of our state’s medical marijuana program was way more difficult than it is today. There was honestly no online portal for applying for a state-issued medical marijuana card, and you had to send a physical application in the snail mail. I waited numerous weeks the first time on a rejection because I cropped my photo in an incorrect manner. It was a real nightmare trying to deal with these complications just to get access to legal medical cannabis. I feel it was a several week wait after I had to send a brand new application in to fix the tiny troubles with the first one. It was relatively exciting when I finally was able to see the reply envelope. Even though I was also panicking in my mind with the fear that it would be another rejection. Fortunately, the letter was simply informing me that our application was accepted and approved by the Office of Medical Marjuana Use. The envelope also had my official medical marijuana card which was fantastic. Nowadays this process is something that happens in an instant. You essentially fill in the application online, cover the cost with a debit card, and then you’re approved immediately. The OMMU texts you a temporary medical marijuana card you can use at weed stores until your official card actually shows in the mail. It couldn’t be easier to apply for and renew your medical marijuana card in this place. I’m pretty happy that the OMMU has gotten rid of the deranged paper applications of the 20th century. It was basically a nightmare for their staff members, as the date information had to be inputted manually by them. Now that it’s digital, the patients do a vast majority of the data-entry that used to be completed by the staff members.
