I remember how angry multiple of us were when the cable company gave us appointment windows that were over seven or eight hours long.
This was a common practice more than two decades ago and you had no choice but to take the entire afternoon off from work.
I hated it when they showed up near the end of the appointment window and had to stay over the cut off point to finish the job. This might not be an inconvenience to people who work from home all day, but I don’t have that kind of job. I have to be at the office promptly at 8am every single day from Sunday through Thursday, all 52 weeks out of the year (with holidays off). If I take the afternoon off and the cable guy doesn’t show up, I’ll get in trouble if I request an additional afternoon off even if I wait a week to do it. This is the primary reason that prevents me from ordering cannabis through home delivery services given by weed stores in our state. Of the ones that supply our house, only one has appointment windows that are less than several hours. Usually you’re told the day before that the driver will arrive between 10am and 2pm, or 11am and 3pm. Although the cannabis delivery driver sends you a text when they’re leaving that previous customer’s house, this could be 30 minutes or as little as 10 minutes. That doesn’t exactly give me enough time to suddenly leave the office in time to get home before the cannabis delivery driver arrives. That’s why it’s just easier for me to go straight to the weed store instead.
