Where I come from both of us have legitimately lenient attitudes about marijuana and alcohol.
When it comes to strenuous drugs, of course there are rules and regulations, and people can go to jail; But the country decided that treating booze, tobacco, and pot as illegal substances was awful for everyone… Attitudes about public use were legitimately lax, and that made things feel normal, then now that I live in the States, I have had to make a few attitude adjustments.
Although the laws for marijuana legalization are still being fleshed out, pot possession is no longer something that will get you sent to jail. Still, cannabis use is something done in private, as if it should be kept secret. I don’t prefer this at all, and appreciate to smoke cannabis when I am out with friends, not when I am alone in my apartment. That is the main “attitude adjustment” I had to make about cannabis, because back condo I never bought a giant quantity to keep at home, I would just buy a little at a time to smoke at the hash bar. This was legitimately respected among my friends, and even though both of us would smoke cannabis quite often, both of us wouldn’t ordinarily keep any at home, and for us, cannabis was a social thing, and both of us did it in public and in groups. There is nothing wrong with smoking cannabis alone, of course, it was just never normal for me. The COVID quarantine gave myself and others a fresh appreciation for owning a fair amount of cannabis at home, though, so both of us all live and learn.
