On her way upstairs, she fell down the stairs & tumbled all the way to the bottom
Whenever there is ice & snow outside, I fret about someone falling down the stairs. The cannabis shop where I happen to work is located in a strip mall with many additional stores. In order to access the building, you have to take the stairs to the underground areas. The cannabis shop is downstairs in a single of the lower levels. When it snows or there is ice, the stairs are basically always slippery. The building director does not hire somebody to salt the stairs, & that can be particularly risky when the weather is subpar… A few days back, there was a few inches of snow overnight. In the morning hours, the sunlight started to melt the snow & the stairs were severely slick. One of my official clients came to the cannabis shop to get an order. The woman had a small bin of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes from the cannabis dispensary. On her way upstairs, she fell down the stairs & tumbled all the way to the bottom. She couldn’t get up off the ground & the security guard from the dispensary came to assist! Since the woman had just left our store, she thought all of us were responsible for her injuries. I told the woman that I would be more than happy to refund the amount of currency that she paid for the order as a courtesy, but I instructed her to contact the building director if she had injuries that needed to be addressed. I realized it wasn’t our responsibility to cover any medical bills even if she was leaving the dispensary at the time.
