CBD has many medical uses but shouldn’t be taken as a pure sedative

He also told me that terpenes like caryophyllene and beta-myrcene are what I need to look for in cannabis extracts if I want to feel tired and sedated

I started developing sleeping problems during the beginning of high school. I know that part of it was from drinking so much coffee and caffeine in general, but that was in response to sedation in the first place. In reality, it was the stress from being a student in advanced placement classes and worrying about tests and homework assignments. I also had a part time job during high school and had that as an extra source of stress looming over my head. It would have been easy for me to start smoking weed as a young teenager and using that as a means of escape from my frantic life. Thankfully I kept my wits about me and waited to try cannabis until after I had applied and been accepted into college. I loved how indica strains of cannabis were so helpful with my chronic insomnia, so I hoped I could achieve the same with CBD products when I gave up weed for a job years later. Unfortunately, CBD doesn’t act like a sedative like some of the other cannabinoids and terpenes found in the cannabis plant. A medical marijuana physician told me that CBD by itself can exhibit stimulant-like effects by contrast. That’s why some say it’s good as a mild antidepressant and use it for that very reason. He also told me that terpenes like caryophyllene and beta-myrcene are what I need to look for in cannabis extracts if I want to feel tired and sedated. For instance, a high CBD extract that is rich in sedating terpenes could very well produce sedating effects compared to pure CBD. It’s a matter of finding the right cannabis products for your particular ailment.
