I could have been mistaken, but I wasn’t

Every day for the past week, I have been watching a story on the news. A man escaped from the federal penitentiary about 30 miles away from my house. The guy was on foot when he escaped and they have been unable to locate the suspect. Everyone in town is on alert and the news has been running the story every morning, noon, and at night. I’ve seen the guy’s face on the news a hundred different times, so I was absolutely certain that I recognized the gentleman in our cannabis dispensary this morning. He had a fake ID with someone else’s name. I grabbed another budtender and told the person that I believed the guy in the cannabis dispensary was the same person from the news story. The budtender told me I was crazy, but I was convinced the guy was the person on TV. I decided to start following the guy around the store while he browsed our selection of cannabis products. I could have been mistaken about the identity of the guy, but I wasn’t. A few minutes after I started following him, I noticed the guy put a gram of concentrate in his pocket. I notified the security guard that the guy stole something and I also told him my suspicions that the person was the escaped convict. The cannabis shop security officer called the police before attempting to detain the subject for theft. It’s a good thing that we called the police first, because the guy put up a fight and tried to please. When the police arrived, they confirmed that the guy with the fake ID was the escaped convict.
