I started working at a new accounting firm a couple of weeks ago and a lot of the guys have tried to be friendly.
I’m not a particularly outgoing or sociable person, so I don’t go out of my way to be friends with anyone.
I am cordial and nice, but I haven’t accepted anyone’s invitation to go out for drinks and I haven’t invited anyone to hang out with me after work either. Last weekend one of my coworkers invited me to go to a baseball game. The baseball game sounded really tempting, but there’s no way I was going to sit outside in the heat and humidity for 3 or 4 hours. Then my coworker said he had some really good cannabis products that he was going to bring to the game. When I heard the word cannabis, my attention was immediately gained. I didn’t know that my coworker was a cannabis product user and I didn’t know why or how he thought that I was. We clicked right from the beginning. I asked my coworker what type of cannabis product he had and he told me that he had a lot of things that we could pick. After the guy mentioned cannabis, I wasn’t going to turn down the game. It was already a tempting invitation and the addition of cannabis made me a lot more interested. I went to the game with my coworker and we actually had a pretty good time. The home team won two, so we got free beers at a bar when the game was over.
