All of my friends and I work on a marijuana farm.
The farm is owned by my parents.
The farm has been in the family for two generations. My dad was the one that wanted to turn the farm into a marijuana empire. We were previously growing soy and alfalfa on the farm. My dad wanted to get in on the ground level. He started thinking about growing marijuana as soon as the state legalized marijuana for medical use. The licenses and permits to grow marijuana were quite expensive. Thankfully we still had revenue from the other crops while we were attempting to turn the farm into a marijuana business. I was only 8 years old at that time, but now I am much older and I can help out on the form. The farm employs lots of local people including my friends. During the summer when there is no school, my friends and I work on the platform. We make sure there are no weeds in the plants and we check for bugs. We help with building things around the farm. Last weekend my friends and I were responsible for building hoop houses for the second month plants. These plants are just beginning to grow strong roots. Once the roots are grown, we can move them out to the natural sun area. These marijuana plants will need to be transferred in a couple of weeks to a larger pot. At that time they will move from the field into the hoop house where they can be protected from predators like coyotes and Wild pigs.
