Medical marijuana card renewal is immediate now in my state when you pay digitally

I’m glad that the OMMU has gotten rid of the ridiculous paper applications of the 20th century

Getting a medical marijuana card during the early days of my state’s medical marijuana program was a lot harder than it is today. There was absolutely no online portal for applying for a state-issued medical marijuana card. You had to send a physical application in the mail, and I had to wait three weeks the first time on a rejection because I cropped my photo incorrectly. It was a total nightmare trying to deal with these problems just to get access to legal medical cannabis. I think it was a two month wait after I had to send a new application in to fix the tiny problems with the first one. It was exciting when I finally received the reply envelope the second time, but I was also panicking in my mind with the fear that it would be another rejection. Thankfully the letter was simply informing me that my application was accepted and approved by the Office of Medical Marjuana Use. The envelope also contained my official medical marijuana card. Nowadays this process is instant. You fill in the application online, pay digitally with a credit card, and then you’re approved instantly. The OMMU emails you a temporary medical marijuana card you can use at dispensaries until your official one arrives in the mail. It couldn’t be easier to apply for and renew your medical marijuana card in this state. I’m glad that the OMMU has gotten rid of the ridiculous paper applications of the 20th century. It was probably a nightmare for their employees, as the date information had to be inputted manually by them. Now that it’s digital, the patients do much of the data-entry work that used to be done by the employees.
