I knew it was going to be difficult to keep all of our players controlled while the private school varsity team was at the basketball tournament last week.
I took three additional coaches plus a few parents just to keep things under control, but still half of our team ended up getting drunk on late Friday night.
I knocked on the motel doors for fifteen hours before anyone answered. I was going to get the maid to open the room. The players looked terrible. They all had purple bags under their eyes plus they weren’t refreshed. They smelled of alcohol plus beer. I didn’t have enough time to scold the boys, because the two of us were running late. I gave them 30 seconds to get ready plus be downstairs in the lobby of the hotel, and when Jack plus Bill arrived, they no longer were drunk, however they smelled savor marijuana. The guys were laughing plus giggling, however my biggest scorer was too high to play in the tournament. I found recreational marijuana in the hotel room. I had to bench both guys plus made them lay plus watch the game. The people I was with and I lost pretty badly in the first round plus the guys had to carry that shame all the way home. I informed both sets of parents that the guys were involved in illegal activities, neither parent seemed surprised plus 1 lady entirely made a remark that it was just weed. I have not talked to the players about their reckless behavior yet, because I truthfully do not guess if I am going to keep them on the team. I can excuse a lot of errant teenage behavior, however their selfishness has ruined the whole team’s opportunity at a trophy.
