He got the idea to make his own cannabis edibles

My brother actually misses the COVID quarantine.

Is he alone in this? He had the best time during the lockdown, and wished it never ended.

My brother had so much time for hobbies, he taught himself how to knit and crochet, and then turned his attention to home improvements. He repainted the entire interior of his home, and laid down laminate flooring in the kitchen. Then my brother decided to work on his cooking skills, which admittedly were quite weak. He spent a few weeks pouring through cookbooks and trying his hand at several recipes. That’s when he got the idea to make his own cannabis edibles, just to see if he could do it. My brother dug through his collection of old books until he found one called the Anarchists Cookbook, which has a collection of cannabis recipes in it. This book is from the 70s so none of the recipes are fancy. It’s just innovative ways to combine marijuana with your meals. My brother learned about making cannabis oil – not the kind of cannabis oil you vaporize, but a cannabis-infused olive oil used for cooking. Once the essence of the cannabis is infused into the olive oil, it can be used to bring that flavor and THC potency to everything else he cooks in it. This allowed him to make delightful pasta dishes and vegetarian recipes where all the ingredients had been infused with cannabis. The only complication my brother has with this kind of cooking is that by the time he is done eating he is far too stoned on cannabis to bother cleaning up. He just wants to nap on the couch.

She just hang out and sold cannabis

Our first week on a college campus we met Sam, an older lady that was regularly hanging around campus.

Sam never wore shoes, and seemed to exist solely to play hacky sack and play old Bob Marley music on her guitar.

Some of the older students told us that Sam had been a fixture on the campus quad for over 3 decades. She wasn’t a student, and she didn’t work here, she just hung out and sold cannabis. Apparently the campus security regularly looked the other way for Sam, because she also gave them cannabis. We were quick to make friends with Sam, mostly because we were new to the neighborhood and had no affixions for marijuana. This was years ago, long before legal cannabis was a reality, so we needed to find a way to score some weed. What is college without cannabis, are we right? For the first few weeks on campus we got all our cannabis from Sam, however eventually we found other resources, and cannabis dealers who were less creepy and weird; Four years later we graduated, and Sam was still slinging sacks of cannabis in the quad and playing hacky sack with the undergrads. Sam has what is called a “charmed life” and although every day is the same for her, every day is a perfect day filled with fun, friendship, and cannabis smoke. In some ways we envy Sam. But not that much, especially since we have access to all the best cannabis strains in the world, and we can smoke it in the comfort of our own home.

Cannabis seemed to be the only thing that would reduce my stress levels

We have been so busy after taking these promotions.

We took the new positions because the pay was so much higher, and we never considered all the stress that would come along with it.

After the first week in our office, we were on the verge of quitting. We had no idea there were so many concerns at this dealer. At the end of the work day we would go home and smoke a joint, but by the end of the second month we were smoking three or four joints. Cannabis seemed to be the only thing that would reduce our stress levels. We thought about how much better our jobs would be if we could smoke marijuana in the office, then it hit us – we didn’t have to smoke it, because we could buy cannabis edibles instead and no one would ever know. We had only tried cannabis edibles a few times in the past, and we have a tiny complication with them. We feel edibles are amazing, and they make us feel so dreamy and relaxed, but if we take one bite too several then we fall asleep, but nothing puts us down more abruptly than cannabis edibles. Before we could start taking edibles at the office we needed to try them out at home a few times and find our perfect balance. We have learned precisely how much cannabis we can smoke for a perfect high, and now we need to do the same thing with edibles. Once we can dial it in, we can start taking edibles at work.

Growing weed on the farm

After a tragic house fire when I was a young child I was sent into the heartland of the country to live with my Uncle Roy, a man I had never met before.

Roy was a farmer, a devout Christian, and an overall good dude.

But he was not a parent, and not comfortable with children. Roy did the best he could with me, but let’s just say it wasn’t a great childhood. Now that I am an adult, my relationship with Roy has blossomed, and we have become the best of friends. Although Roy is a religious man, he is also a huge fan of smoking cannabis. Roy says that cannabis is a gift from God, which is why he grows so much of it on his farm in secret. Once or twice a month I stop by Roy’s farm to hang out with him, and I always make sure to be on-hand when it’s time for a cannabis harvest. Roy doesn’t have a whole field of cannabis plants but he is pretty old at this point, and needs all the help he can get. I drive out for a weekend to assist with the cannabis harvest, and then he gives me a bunch of weed to take home with me. I would gladly help him for free, but Roy insists on sharing “the spoils of war” from his cannabis plants. We are always careful to wear gloves during the cannabis harvest, otherwise we can absorb too much of the THC through our skin while handling it. That is not as fun as it sounds.

An innovator of the local cannabis community

In the local cannabis scene, I am known as an innovator and a trailblazer.

At last count there were fourteen different dispensaries, in various neighborhoods and parts of town.

Over the last two years, basically ever since society came back from COVID, I have noticed all the other shops follow my lead, and do what I do. When I started offering free home delivery on cannabis orders over a certain dollar amount, everyone else did it too. After I sponsored a local street fair with live music, a few other cannabis shops have tried similar events. I was the first cannabis shop to hand out free stickers and posters, because I knew it would generate free advertising. Guess what happened next? Every other cannabis dispensary handed out free swag. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and in this case I couldn’t possibly be more flattered! It doesn’t bother me, but I am focused on my own success, and the success of my cannabis operation. I would absolutely steal a great idea from a rival cannabis shop if those mopes ever had an idea worth stealing! I heard a rumor that one of my rivals was going to open a cannabis smokers lounge in their store. This is an idea I have previously considered, but decided not to pursue. In this state there are strict no-smoking policies for business, including tobacco and cannabis. Why bother opening a cannabis smokers lounge if people are not allowed to smoke cannabis indoors? It doesn’t make any sense, and it won’t make money.

I taught myself how to cook with cannabis

Marijuana delivery makes life easier for me.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get medical marijuana.

  • I was a school health teacher, and I was always preaching to the kids about the evils of drugs.

How could I give them that lesson when I was using marijuana on a regular basis? I had multiple sclerosis and spent many hours too weak to move and in pain. I often used my crutches or walker when I was in the school, and the students were used to it. I had been using medical marijuana for three years, but never while in school. I stuck with OTC medicine for the pain. When I could no longer go to the marijuana dispensary because of being seen by someone in the school district, I opted to have marijuana delivery services bring my order to my home. I put the order in online before I went to work and had the delivery set up for when I was home later that afternoon. If I wasn’t there, my husband could always sign it for me. I had signed him up as my caretaker. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. Marijuana delivery was making my life much easier until a friend from school stopped by to check on me. I had been out for three days and she wanted to know if there was anything she could do to help. When she showed, the marijuana delivery driver was just leaving, and she saw the bag. She laughed and said my secret was safe, and then wanted to know if it was helping with the MS.

Medical marijuana makes the difference

I’m surely singing a different tune these afternoons when it comes to cannabis.

  • After an adult life of slamming and putting down those who used cannabis as being weak, I found myself finding a real solution with cannabis use; That seems somehow apt, given the numerous things in life that turn out to be completely nothing that my friend and I conceptualize… But experience will regularly win the afternoon & that was certainly the case for myself when it comes to using medical marijuana.

I am a little ashamed by my behavior while in the period that medical marijuana was being debated in our state legislature. I even berated a person who came to my door to give actual data & factual information about using medical marijuana. That’s how totally ignorant I was when it came to the easily real-world benefits that can come from using sativa, indica & hybrid strains; Fortunately, the smarter, more balanced & informed vote won the afternoon & medical marijuana was legalized. I remember feeling disgusted by that result & ranted about how this was the end of our state; Of course, let me state once again that I was indeed being a complete jackass about cannabis products. I was also in denial & pain that came from a situation with my leg joints. I’d gotten numerous opinions however no dentist could clearly state the reason for my chronic inflammation, and so I was going the pain meds route, then well, that ran me right into the ground to the state that I was willing to try almost anything. That’s when medical marijuana literally & completely changed the course of my life.
