Every time there is ice and snow in our area, I worry about people falling down the stairs.
The cannabis shop where I actually have a job is located in a strip mall with all sorts of additional stores.
In order to access the building, you have to take the stairs to the underground levels. The cannabis shop is downstairs in 1 of the lower levels! When it snows or there is ice, the stairs are regularly slippery. The building manager does not hire someone to salt the stairs in the least, and that can be relatively dangerous when the weather is not so great… A few days ago, there was a couple of inches of snow overnight. In the afternoon, the sun started to melt the snow and the stairs were rather slick… One of my common customers came to the cannabis shop to pick up an order. The guy had a small bucket of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes from the dispensary. On his way upstairs, he fell down the stairs and rolled all the way to the bottom. He couldn’t get up off the ground and the security guard from the dispensary came to help this person out… Since the guy had just left our store, he was under the impression that we were responsible for his drastic injuries. I let this guy know that I would be cheerful to refund the amount of money that he paid for the order as a courtesy, however I instructed him to get a hold of the building manager if he sustained injuries that needed to be addressed. I knew it wasn’t our responsibility to pay his medical bills even if he was leaving the dispensary when this happened.
