Why I support weed, even though I can’t smoke it

I don’t smoke weed.

Not for moral reasons, but because of my weird brain chemistry, which reacts poorly to THC.

That said, I have been a huge proponent for legalized weed for a long time. Not for me, but for something called “the greater good.” I understand that even though I don’t enjoy weed, it is a medicine that can be beneficial to millions of people! The fact that marijuana was ever deemed illegal in the first place was a matter of politics, not morality. Big Tobacco oppressed the cannabis farmers of this country, they demonized a plant, and ruined many lives, just so they could sell more cigarettes. I would actually be perfectly fine with cannabis being illegal, if tobacco and alcohol were also illegal. Just because cannabis doesn’t help me medicinally doesn’t mean it can’t help others! I have to avoid using cannabis because something about the THC content reacts poorly to my brain chemistry. Instead of relaxing and giggling, cannabis makes me hallucinate wildly and feel paranoid. I have never taken a hallucinogen like LSD, but the way cannabis makes me feel seems awfully similar to that. I have even tried cannabis edibles and vape pens, but anything that contains THC has the same impact on me. So obviously, I don’t ever mess around with marijuana, I will stick to a few beers! I still want other people to have legal access to cannabis. It can help the sick and the elderly, and has countless medical benefits. I hope all of you also support legalizing cannabis, let’s make it happen!
